Otto for Google Chat
Ask Otto about your email, calendar, notes, and tasks in a private Google Chat conversation.
You need an Otto account with an eligible plan and access to the Google Chat app. Your Workspace administrator may need to allow the app. Availability depends on the app’s publication status and your organization’s policy.
Install and connect
- In Otto, open Settings → Integrations → Google Chat. Follow the installation link when available. During testing, your Workspace email must be on the app’s tester list.
- In Google Chat, choose New chat → Find apps, find Otto AI, and open its private conversation. If it is missing, check access with your administrator.
- Return to Otto’s Google Chat settings, choose the email account you want to use, start linking, and copy the fresh link command.
- Send the copied /link CODE text in your private conversation with Otto. Keep the code out of shared spaces. Wait for confirmation before asking a question.
Use Otto
Send a normal message such as “Which unread emails need my attention?” Use /help for instructions or /accounts to choose an approved email account. App home also links back to your Otto settings.
Otto only processes requests in its private one-to-one chat. Important actions require approval in Otto. Chat file and voice uploads are not supported yet; use Otto to attach files.
To disconnect or change email access, open Otto Settings → Integrations. Removing the app from the private Chat conversation also revokes that chat’s binding when Google delivers the removal event.
Help and privacy
If linking fails, generate a new code in Otto and send it in the correct private chat. If replies fail, contact support@ottomail.app with the time and error message. Never send link codes, passwords, or private email contents.
