Connect your private chat
Open Settings → Integrations. Find the chat service you use. Your primary email account is selected when it is ready; you can choose another eligible account instead. Select Connect. Completing the private link lets Otto use only that account as the chat's default.
Select Copy link command. Otto fills in your code automatically, so you do not need to type CODE yourself.
Open a private chat with Otto in that service and enter the command as described below. Do not share the code in a group chat.
Return to Integrations. When a new link shows Linked, the account you selected is ready for this chat. You can manage or add email accounts here later. If you started linking with an older code, follow the email access review shown here before asking Otto about your inbox.
In the private chat, ask “How many unread emails do I have?” An answer from the email account you chose confirms the chat is working. Sending email or making other important changes still requires your approval.
Where to enter the command
Telegram: Open the exact Otto bot shown in Integrations, tap Start, and paste the copied /link CODE into its private chat.
Slack: If your workspace has not connected Otto yet, select Set up Slack workspace, open Slack setup, and choose Allow before sending a link command. Adding the app in Slack alone does not complete workspace setup. Then open a private message with Otto and run the copied /otto /link CODE command there.
Discord: Add the published Otto app to your account and open a private message with it. Run /otto, paste /link CODE into its text field, then submit.
WhatsApp: Open the Otto Business number shown in Integrations and send /link CODE as a private text message. Choose the separate opt-in if you want Otto to start future messages.
Microsoft Teams: Find the published Otto app in your organization’s app catalog. An admin may need to make it available. Open its personal chat and send /link CODE.
Google Chat: Find the published Otto app in Google Chat or Workspace Marketplace. An admin may need to make it available. Open a direct message and send /link CODE.
To see or switch the email accounts available in your chat, send /accounts in Telegram, WhatsApp, Teams, or Google Chat. In Slack, run /otto /accounts in your private message. In Discord, run /otto and enter /accounts in its text field. Switching accounts or changing access closes older requests that are waiting for a reply or approval.
Need a reminder? Send /help in your private Telegram, WhatsApp, Teams, or Google Chat conversation with Otto. In Slack, run /otto help in your private message with Otto. In Discord, run /help in your private message with Otto. Otto will show the available chat commands and where to manage your connection.
If you refreshed Integrations or the code expired before the service showed Linked, select Start again on that service. It keeps the email account chosen for that pending link. Copy and send the new command; the old one will no longer work. If Connect is unavailable, check the service’s status and your plan on the Integrations page. Connecting a chat gives it access only to the selected email account.
After linking, choose which routine or alert updates go to this chat and when. Check Activity for each update’s status; an update prepared in Otto may still fail to reach your chat. You can pause or remove an update setting at any time.
How to use it
1Check availability. Open Settings → Integrations. Your ready primary email account is selected by default, or you can choose another eligible account. Connecting gives this chat access only to that account.
2Link privately. Follow the service steps and copy the complete command. Slack uses /otto /link CODE; Discord uses /otto with /link CODE in its text field.
3Confirm the link. Return when the service shows Linked. The selected email account is ready for new links; manage or add accounts here later. Older link codes may still ask you to review email access.
4Check and switch. Ask “How many unread emails do I have?” to check the chat. Use /accounts to switch email accounts; Slack uses /otto /accounts and Discord uses /otto with /accounts in its text field.
5Choose updates. Choose what to send and when, then check Activity for delivery status.
