Terms of Service

Effective 1 July 2026

These terms are an agreement between you and Otto. By using Otto, you agree to them. Please read them alongside our Privacy Policy.

1. Acceptance

By accessing or using Otto you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

2. The service

Otto is an AI-assisted email client that connects to your Google account and helps you read, search, compose, send and organize mail — including by carrying out actions you ask its assistant to perform. Otto is an independent product and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Google.

Otto offers a free tier and paid subscription plans. The features included in each plan, and the limits that apply, are shown on our pricing page and may change over time.

3. Subscriptions & billing

  • Paid plans are offered as recurring subscriptions billed in advance on the cycle you choose (e.g. weekly, monthly or yearly). On the web and PWA, payments are processed by Paddle, our merchant of record; in our iOS and Android apps, purchases are made through Apple or Google in-app purchase and managed via RevenueCat.
  • Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period at the then-current price until you cancel. By subscribing you authorize that recurring charge.
  • You can cancel at any time — from your billing settings in the app (web) or from your App Store / Google Play subscription settings (mobile). Cancellation stops future renewals; your plan stays active until the end of the period already paid for.
  • Prices may change; we will give notice before a change affects you, and you can cancel if you do not accept it. Applicable taxes are added at checkout.
  • Refunds are handled in line with our Refund Policy, alongside any mandatory statutory rights in your country.

4. Eligibility & your account

  • You must be at least 18 years old and able to form a binding contract.
  • You need a Google account, and you authorize Ottoto access it through Google’s OAuth with the permissions shown at sign-in.
  • You are responsible for activity under your account and for keeping your Google credentials secure.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to use Otto to:

  • send spam, bulk unsolicited mail, phishing, or anything unlawful, deceptive, harassing or harmful;
  • violate any law or the rights of others, including Google’s terms and any anti-spam regulations;
  • attempt to disrupt, reverse-engineer, overload, or gain unauthorized access to the service or its infrastructure;
  • use the service on behalf of anyone whose mailbox you don’t control.
  • use the opt-in email open/click tracking feature unlawfully — you are solely responsible for tracking another person’s opens or clicks lawfully and with any consent your jurisdiction requires (see the Privacy Policy).

6. Your content

Your emails and the data in your Google account are yours. You grant Otto only the limited permission needed to operate the features you use, as described in the Privacy Policy. We claim no ownership of your content.

7. AI features — your responsibility

The assistant can search, draft, send and modify mail and can act on your instructions. AI output can be inaccurate, incomplete, or unexpected. You are responsible for reviewing what the assistant does before relying on it, especially before sending email or performing destructive actions. Otto asks you to confirm sending and other significant actions, but the final responsibility for any message sent or change made from your account is yours.

8. Availability

Ottois provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. It is an evolving product and may change, break, or be suspended or discontinued at any time, with or without notice. We do not guarantee any particular uptime, and depend on third-party services (such as Google) that are outside our control. During the beta, access may be staged or invite-only (for example, via a waitlist), and some features may be limited or change.

9. Disclaimers & limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Otto disclaims all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Otto and its operators will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or exemplary damages, or for any loss of data, emails, profits or goodwill, arising from your use of (or inability to use) the service. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.

10. Suspension & termination

You may stop using Otto at any time and delete your account from Settings → Privacy & data; deletion is subject to the grace period described in the Privacy Policy. We may suspend, limit or terminate access — including signing out active sessions or removing access to features — if you breach these Terms, fail to pay, or where reasonably needed to protect the service, other users, or to comply with law. Where a paid subscription is terminated for our convenience (and not for your breach), any unused prepaid period is handled per the Refund Policy.

11. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will revise the effective date above and, for material changes, take reasonable steps to notify you. Continued use after changes means you accept them.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of India, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. Mandatory consumer-protection rights in your country of residence still apply.

13. Miscellaneous

If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest remain in full effect. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of it. You may not assign these Terms; we may assign them in connection with a transfer of the service. These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and Otto regarding the service.
