Attach images and PDFs
PlusShow Otto a screenshot, a photo, a PDF or an email attachment and ask about it.
Tap + in the chat box to add photos, screenshots, PDFs or plain-text files (.txt, .md, .csv, .json). You can also paste an image or drop files onto the chat box. In the reader, open an attachment's menu and choose Ask Otto, or just ask Otto about it — "summarize the PDF from Sarah's last email" — and it finds the email and reads the file.
Attachments come with Plus and Pro. Up to 4 files go with one message; images and PDFs can be up to 10 MB, and PDFs up to 20 pages. Photos are resized on your device before upload, which also removes location data.
Which model reads them
With Auto, Otto picks a model that can read what you attached. If you picked a model that can't read images or PDFs, Otto says so and offers a one-tap switch to one that can. Text files work with every model.
Privacy
Files are read by the AI model itself; Otto doesn't run its own text extraction. Uploaded files are stored privately, stay available to Otto for the message and the next two replies, and are deleted within 24 hours. Email attachments are fetched from your mailbox when needed and never stored.
How to use it
- 1Attach. Tap + in the chat box, paste an image, or drop a file.
- 2Ask. Say what you want: summarize it, pull out dates, draft a reply.
- 3Follow up. Keep asking for two more replies; after 24 hours, attach it again.
