The short version

  • Fyxer suits Gmail and Outlook users who want replies drafted in their tone, automatic labels and meeting notes.
  • People look elsewhere over credit-based usage, per-person pricing, or wanting a full mail app rather than an add-on.
  • Otto, Superhuman and Shortwave each take a different route: one app, a fast client, or a Gmail-first AI client.
  • Last reviewed 9 October 2026. Check each plan page before paying.

Who Fyxer suits

Fyxer works with Gmail and Outlook. Its pricing page describes replies drafted in your tone, automatic labelling, meeting recording and notes, and a drafted follow-up. It says Fyxer drafts replies in your inbox and you decide what gets sent. It also lists a scheduling assistant. Fyxer works inside Gmail, Outlook, a web hub, Slack and Teams.

If meetings and email drafts are the two things eating your week, that pairing is its strength.

Why people look elsewhere

  • Credit-based usage. The pricing page describes monthly credits, with inbox sorting using credits at a stated rate and meeting recording using them too. Read how credits are counted before you estimate cost.
  • Per-person pricing. Plans are priced per person, with a team plan that pools credits.
  • An add-on, not an app. Fyxer works on top of your mail client. If you want a single app for mail, calendar and tasks, you will want something else.

Alternatives worth a look

  • Otto. One app for Gmail and Outlook mail, calendar and tasks, with an assistant that drafts, finds, books and files, and waits for your approval before anything sends, books or changes. Free covers one account; Plus is $6.99 a month and Pro is $19.99 a month, with a lower rate on yearly billing.
  • Superhuman. A shortcut-first client for Gmail and Outlook, with AI drafts and follow-up reminders. Mail sits on its paid plans as of October 2026.
  • Shortwave. An AI client built around Gmail, with AI search, filters and a free plan. Its docs say Microsoft 365 and Exchange are not supported at this time.

What they cost

Otto Free costs nothing. These are the lowest paid plans, in USD on monthly billing, from each vendor's own pricing page.

ProductLowest paid planPriceNotes
OttoPlusfrom $6.99/monthPro $19.99/month; $55.99/year for Plus
FyxerProfrom $49/monthper seat, $37/month billed yearly
ShortwaveBusinessfrom $30/monthper seat

Yearly billing is cheaper where a vendor offers it, and plan limits differ, so read the plan before you compare on price alone.

Where Otto fits, and where it does not

Otto fits if you want the inbox, the calendar and the task list in one app, with drafting help that comes back as a card you approve. It can propose meeting times and, on eligible paid plans, offer a booking link.

Otto does not fit if you need meeting recording and notes: Otto does not join or record meetings. It also does not run inside Slack or Teams the way Fyxer lists, although Otto has its own Slack and Google Chat pages.

Side by side: Otto vs Fyxer.

What to test before you switch

Run the same ten threads through each tool. Compare the drafts for tone and facts, and check how you approve or discard them. If meeting notes are part of why you use Fyxer, test what each alternative offers for them, because several do not record meetings at all. Then look at how usage is metered: a flat plan, an allowance or credits change what a busy month costs. Keep the review step in mind throughout: you want a draft you can check in a few seconds, not a rewrite.

How we checked this

Last reviewed 9 October 2026. Sources: Fyxer's pricing page, Superhuman's Mail page and plans page, and Shortwave's provider guide. Otto is our product, so weigh the Otto notes accordingly. Nothing here is paid placement and there are no affiliate links. We read each product's own pages on 9 October 2026 and did not run a head-to-head test. Plans, limits and features change, so confirm on the linked pages before you pay.
