Delegate your day.
AI that waits for your approval
A practical guide to reviewing AI email actions: check the proposed recipients, content and scope, then distinguish approval from a completed result.
You just approve.
A draft is a proposal
An assistant can help turn a conversation into a reply, a meeting or a task. The useful question is what happens between its suggestion and a change to your account. A draft gives you something to edit. A proposed action gives you something to authorize. Neither is proof that the work has happened.
In Otto, AI sends, deletes and bulk changes use confirmation cards. Read the card before approving it. The goal is to make the proposed work concrete enough to review, without making you repeat the request in another screen.
Review the parts that matter
For a reply, check the sending account, recipients, wording and any commitments in the text. If a date or price came from the conversation, compare it with the original message. A fluent sentence can still contain a mistaken assumption.
For a calendar event, check the account, time zone, date and attendees. For a bulk change, check the action and the selected messages. A preview of loaded messages is not necessarily the full set of matching mail. If the scope is unclear, stop and narrow the request before approving.
You can ask for a smaller step: draft a response before sending it, or identify messages before changing them. Keep the decision sized to what you can actually inspect.
Approval and completion are different
Approval lets the action proceed. Afterward, read the result. A queued send still has work ahead of it; a partial bulk result means some items remain unresolved. If an action fails, check what succeeded before retrying so you do not repeat a send or create a duplicate event.
This is also a useful way to compare assistants. Look for the review point, the information it exposes and the result it reports. Do not infer an approval model from the presence of an AI draft button alone.
Keep a manual path
Core mail, calendar and tasks remain available on Otto Free. AI has an allowance, and you can still read, send and organize mail yourself. Start with a low-stakes reply and learn the review flow before handing it a larger batch.
Read the assistant guide and the bulk actions guide for the controls and result states.
